The best time to begin training your puppy is . . . immediately!

Research has shown puppies learn more before 16 weeks of age than the rest of their lives! Puppy class is one of the best investments you can make to maximize your puppy’s full potential: a great dog and your true companion.

How soon can I start?

When does the next class begin?
See Schedule

Where is class held?
At the Shoppes at Exit 24, 205 Fern Valley Rd in Phoenix, Oregon. 541-779-0655 – Good Dog! School Map

When should I start my puppy in classes?
Puppies should begin training as soon as possible--as young as 8 weeks. See recommendations of the following veterinary organizations:
avma.org
veterinarymedicine.dvm360.com
avsabonline.org

What are your age requirements?
Puppies may start between the ages of 9 to 20 weeks.

What vaccinations are required?
Distemper/Parvo Combination – at least one vaccination before their first class and remain current.
Bordetella – at least one vaccination at twelve weeks; re-vaccination is recommended every six months.
Rabies – Required for dogs 6 months and older.
Written proof by a licensed veterinarian is required to attend the first class.

Can puppies come to class if they don't seem completely healthy?
Puppy owners should avoid coming to class if there is a chance of illness. Coughing, sneezing, discharge from the eyes or nose, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, or fever may indicate illness. Even if vaccinations are current and your pup doesn't “seem sick,” it is still possible to spread illness. If class is missed due to illness, please call and time will be credited to your Training Pass.

How are classes managed?
Your puppy may be placed into a playgroup that is optimal for his or her confidence level. Intimidating, rough play is not allowed.

What will my puppy learn?
Your puppy will learn basic obedience commands and socialization skills that facilitate becoming a well-adjusted adult dog with fewer behavior problems.

What will I learn?
Gentle techniques using primarily positive reinforcement are taught. Advice will be given to manage unwanted behaviors such as mouthiness (play biting), house soiling, and jumping up.

How are the classes structured?
Exercises are performed to teach polite social interactions and improve obedience and focus.

How long will I stay in Puppy kindergarten?
Remain in Puppy Kindergarten until your puppy has mastered the required skills, is finished with puppy shots, and you feel ready to move to the next level. You are welcome to remain until your puppy is 6 months old or too rambunctious for Kindergarten.

How many other puppies will there be in the class?
Ten or fewer.
