What is a Training Pass?
When you buy a Training Pass, you are purchasing a block of time to attend classes once a week. Eight-and sixteen-week passes are available. The Training Pass begins on the first day you bring your dog to class. The pass is valid for eight or sixteen weeks, depending upon the type of pass purchased. Your pass will be extended for canceled classes due to holidays or other reasons.
What is the cost to enroll?
See Registration
May I sign up and participate in a class on the same day?
No. Pre-registration of at least three days is required.
How quickly will my dog advance through your program?
How long you remain in a given class level depends on you, your dog, and how much time you devote for training. You may move up to a more advanced class when you and your dog have mastered the specific skills designated for your class.
Is attending more than once a week an option?
Attending more often provides added socialization and training opportunities. Additional classes will use eligible Training Pass sessions. Contact us if you are interested.
How do I register more than one dog? Is there a discount?
Each dog requires a separate registration and training pass. It isn't necessary to buy a second manual.
Can I observe a class before registering?
Yes! You are welcome to observe without your dog at no charge.
Are gift certificates available?
Yes!
Which class?
Dogs under four months of age enroll in Puppy; all others enroll in Beginners. See Schedule.
When do classes start and end?

What training methods do you use?
We use primarily positive reinforcement. Research has shown that positive reinforcement is an effective way to change behavior.
How are the classes designed?
Skills-based levels. The classes are designed in a series of levels. You progress through the levels at your own pace.
What is a Level?
A level is a set of specific skills that must be mastered before moving up to a more advanced level. We have the following levels: Puppy Kindergarten, Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert.
How will classes help me and my dog?
You will learn techniques to have a well-mannered and better controlled dog in and away from home.
What skills are taught at each level?
Once you enroll, you will receive a list of specific skills via email.
When will I advance to the next level?
Advance when your dog has mastered the skills for your current level.
How will it affect my progress if my dog already knows some basic obedience?
You will move more quickly to a more advanced level.
Do you offer playtime in classes?
Playtime is offered routinely in Puppy Kindergarten, but not in more advanced levels.
What do you offer if I want more play opportunities for my dog?
Check out our Playgroups.
Which class should I choose?
Dogs under four months enroll in Puppy Kindergarten; all others enroll in Beginners. See Schedule. If you have questions, contact Good Dog! School to determine best placement.
How long are the classes and how often do they meet?
Class meet weekly for 55 minutes. It may be possible to attend more often. Contact us for details.
How many dogs or puppies are in a class?
Generally, ten or fewer.
Who can come to class?
We recommend the entire household be involved in training the dog in class as well as at home. Whoever attends must know how to participate in their current class.
Can my children come to classes?
Children are welcome. Young children require the supervision of an additional adult. Older children must be able to control the dog in class and willing to practice at home.
What should I bring to class?
A list of supplies will be sent to you via email after enrollment.
What are my options if I need to miss a class?
Text or email at least 24 hours in advance of your absence. Missed classes may be made up by attending twice a week within the time-frame of your current Training Pass.
Will you extend my Training Pass when I am on vacation?
No; however, if you let us know in writing at least 24 hours in advance of an absence, you qualify for a make-up.
Will you extend my Training Pass when my dog gets neutered?
No; however, if you let us know in writing at least 24 hours in advance of an absence, you qualify for a make-up.
Do I have to miss class if my dog is going to be neutered?
It's not necessary to miss class if you schedule the surgery the day after class. At class time, advise your instructor that your dog had recent surgery.
Under what circumstances will you extend my Training Pass?
Training Passes may be extended in the case of illness or emergencies. Contact us as soon as possible.
What if a class is canceled due to a holiday or any other reason?
Your Training Pass will be credited extra time.
What if I have more than one dog?
Each dog must have a handler. If you don't have a second person available, it will be necessary to enroll each dog in separate classes.
How long should my dog be in my home before starting classes?
A two week waiting period is required prior to starting classes to ensure that your dog is healthy and free of communicable diseases, such as “kennel cough.”
What vaccinations are required?
Vaccinations must remain current. Written proof of your dog's vaccination status is required at the first class.
The following vaccinations are required:
- Rabies: All dogs and puppies over 6 months.
- Distemper/Parvo Combination: All dogs; puppies under four months must have at least one vaccine before their first class.
- Bordetella: All dogs; puppies over twelve weeks must have at least one vaccination. Re-vaccination is recommended every six months.
May I attend group classes if my dog barks and lunges?
A dog who barks and lunges is not ready to attend group classes. Private training is a more effective approach to helping your dog with this issue. Once you learn how to change this behavior, it may be possible to join our group classes.
May I attend class if I'm not sure my dog is completely healthy?
Do not bring your dog to class if there is a chance of illness. Coughing, sneezing, discharge from the eyes or nose, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, or fever may indicate illness. Even if vaccinations are current and your dog doesn't “seem sick,” it is still possible to spread illness. If a class is missed due to illness, please call and your Training Pass will be extended.
Cancellations/Refund Policy:
No refunds after the first class.
After the first class, refunds will be given only in case of medical or other emergency. We must be notified in a timely manner to ensure a refund.
